Second best?

I’m going to use my authority to go ahead and say that George Bush’s bullhorn speech was not “Probably The Most Important Moment Maybe In American History.”

This morning on Fox & Friends, former National Security Adviser and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice joined the chorus of conservatives heaping praise onto her former boss, suggesting that Bush’s bullhorn speech at Ground Zero was “probably the most important moment maybe in American history.”

In terms of world-historical importance, I’d say the bullhorn speech is somewhere in between that brutal bout of gas that John Quincy Adams had after a state dinner* and the time Taft got stuck in his bathtub.

*  Did this really happen? I don’t know, I just made it up. But I’m guessing it did once.
